Master Junior Provincial Finals
Sponsored by:
ProScore - Automatic Computer Scoring
Date and Time:
Sunday, October 24, 2004 (Zone Round)
Provincial Finals:
Saturday November 13, 2004 at 1:00 pm (12:30 Registration)
Location: Thorncliffe Bowlerama
45 Overlea Blvd. (East York Town Centre Mall)
Don Mills, Ontario
(416) 421-2211
Entry Fee: $70.00
Format:
The tournament is compulsory for all affiliated Master Bowlers.
There will be a qualifying round for the Junior YBC Bowlers in your
centre, using the best of 2 weeks ending October 16, 2004 on
a P.O.A. score basis. The average for the YBC Bowlers for
the qualifying round, regional and provincial finals must be their
final league average for the 2003-2004 season. New Bowlers
must have bowled 12 games prior to October 2, 2004, to establish
an average and the average as of that date will be used. The
pins-over-average format is used in the regional and provincials.
All teams will be comprised of a boy/girl until a bowling centre
runs out of one gender. If a centre does not have enough boys or
girls they may use another boy or girl to complete the remaining
teams. Therefore it is possible to have a team of one master, and
two boys or two girls.
At
the provincial final, a 4 game pins-over-average format will be
used to determine the overall winners.

This event is
unique in that the Master Bowlers’ Association of Ontario has
no affiliation with organizing this tournament. This event
will be implemented by a tournament staff hired by Mr. Tony Bonora
the proprietor of Sherwood Centre.
Tournament
Masters will follow the rules of the Sherwood Challenge which is a
sanctioned tournament by the Ontario Five Pin Bowlers’ Association
(O5PBA). If there are any violations of the rules at the Sherwood
Challenge by a Master Bowler then action can be taken by a MBAO
disciplinary committee. We ask that you conduct yourself
accordingly as Master Bowlers.
Alcohol will be
available at the Sherwood Challenge and can be consumed by a Master
Bowler. Please drink responsible if you choose to drink and bowl.
Master bowlers’
must wear their MBAO golf shirt when bowling. Wearing your MBAO shirt will help promote our
organization to the non Master bowlers.
This event has
been deemed “mandatory” for the Tournament Aggregate. The reason for
this is if a Master Bowler decided to drop an event which is allowed
this year, it must be a 10 game event. Since the Sherwood Challenge
is a 7 game qualifier, it could not be incorporated as an optional
event. In order to qualify for the national team this year both the
Sherwood Challenge and the Year End events are mandatory.
In the five pin
bowling industry there is a phase that is echoed many times,
“WE MUST WORK
TOGETHER TO PROMOTE FIVE PIN BOWLING”
The MBAO and Mr.
Tony Bonora has taken the steps to “work together” by making the
Sherwood Challenge a tremendous success not only in Ontario but in
Canada.
We believe the
seed has been planted with the Sherwood Challenge to make five pin
bowling a showcase in the world of sports. Please have an open mind
with change and embrace this amazing opportunity for the Master
Bowler.

You
have the option of bowling P.O.A., Scratch or both. Bowlers
cannot compete in P.O.A. without a current or last years average.
At the completion of the four events, one National Team will be
determined to advance to the MBAC National Championships. The team includes the top male and female
from scratch competition, the top male and female from P.O.A. competition
and the wild card this year is the Ladies' Scratch. If the
same person wins scratch and P.O.A., they will advance from the
scratch side.
